LinkedIn carousel posts can be a powerful tool for boosting engagement on the platform. When done correctly, they can attract up to 10 times more engagement than regular posts.

In this post, I’ll show you how to create effective LinkedIn carousels that not only technically work but also engage your audience and potentially turn them into customers.

Two Important Notes

Before we dive into creating carousels, there are two important things to keep in mind:

  1. We’re focusing on free carousel posts, not those created through LinkedIn ads.
  2. We’re discussing static image carousels that typically showcase thought leadership or expertise. While there are new video carousels rolling out, this guide is for static images, but many concepts apply to videos as well.

Diverse Uses for Static Image Carousels

Static image carousels are versatile. You can use them for various purposes:

  • Tell a story
  • Craft listicles
  • Offer tips and hacks
  • Introduce your team
  • Share business lessons
  • Share quotes and sayings
  • Create step-by-step guides
  • Share interesting statistics
  • Highlight projects or products
  • Provide downloadable cheat sheets

Share educational or inspirational content that immediately offers value to the viewer. Your audience are more likely to engage with carousels that provide something valuable upfront.

Repurpose Your Content

If you have existing content like blog articles, podcasts, videos, or presentations, repurpose them into carousels.

It can save time and reach a broader audience.

Creating a Carousel

Now, let’s dive into the creation process:

1. Design with Canva (or Your Preferred Tool)

  • Start with a square canvas (1080x1080 px) for high-quality visuals.
  • Focus on the first “Title” slide; it’s crucial. Use bright colors, engaging graphics, and concise text.
  • Add an arrow to guide users to swipe through.
  • Include your LinkedIn profile picture or company logo to protect your content.

2. Middle Slides

  • Aim for 5 to 8 slides to provide enough content without overwhelming.
  • Each slide should have a number, main idea, and a brief explanation.
  • Use graphics that match the content.

3. The Final Slide

  • Mention a benefit for the viewer.
  • Instruct users on what action to take next.
  • Include a larger photo of yourself or your company logo for identity.

Using Templates

You can use templates for faster creation while adhering to the same format. Make sure your template maintains brand consistency.

Posting on LinkedIn

  1. Access the document feature when creating a post.
  2. Choose the downloaded PDF of your carousel.
  3. Provide a document title within the 58-character limit.
  4. Add a compelling caption and relevant hashtags.
  5. Schedule the post for optimal timing.

Analyze Your Results

After posting, analyze your analytics to understand how your audience engages with your content. This information will help you improve future carousels that capture your audience’s attention and potentially convert them into valuable customers.
